Current hiking special
With the hiking special “Wittgenstein-Sauerland Forest Sculpture Trail,” the New CAPITOL offers an attractive hiking weekend from May 29–31, 2026.
The “Wittgenstein-Sauerland Forest Sculpture Trail” hiking special can be booked in three packages—with and without overnight accommodation.
The excursion will be led by hiking expert Rüdiger Grebe. What is so special about the sculptures? How are they integrated into nature? What might the artists’ intentions have been? Rüdiger Grebe will discuss and answer these and other questions in an interactive exchange with the participants. Hiking expert Rüdiger Grebe has designed various hiking trails and a cycling route in the Bad Berleburg area. Their certification formed the basis for Bad Berleburg being designated a premium hiking destination, one of only three such destinations in Germany. Rüdiger Grebe followed the “Wittgenstein-Sauerland Forest Sculpture Trail” project from its inception to completion, getting to know most of the artists personally along the way.

Guided hike to the sculptures

- The Monument of the Lost Falcon (Alan Sonfist)
- The Green Station (Gloria Friedmann)
- The Golden Egg (Magdalena Jetelová)
- The Competition (Jochen Gerz)
The route covers 12 kilometers with a pure walking time of approximately 4 hours. In addition, there are stops at the sculptures. A break with refreshments (snacks / drinks) is planned at the “Green Station” sculpture at around 1:00 p.m. Return to the hotel is scheduled for approximately 3:30 p.m. The route runs along well-maintained forest paths. Moderate difficulty – without any significant ascents. Hiking equipment is required (backpack).
6:30 p.m. – Gourmet menu at the restaurant Neues CAPITOL

Poached poularde / Riesling sauce / mushrooms / peas / spiced rice
Rhubarb parfait / tonka bean foam
