The new CAPITOL combines a cinema, restaurant, hotel, and event venue under one roof. It offers cinema events with exciting blockbusters, a multifunctional (cinema) hall equipped with professional event technology for live cultural events, family celebrations, or conferences, a modern hotel with stylish rooms and suites, and a restaurant serving regional and seasonal cuisine – all accessible and located in one place.
Future-oriented, sustainable, and climate-neutral in its operations, the new CAPITOL sets new standards in the heart of Bad Berleburg. With its distinctive architecture, it lends the town center a modern, urban flair and creates a place for encounters, culture, and enjoyment.

History
The first cinema in Bad Berleburg opened on October 1, 1932 – the so-called “Tonfilmbühne” (Sound Film Stage) at Graf-Casimir-Straße 7. In 1953, the current Capitol Theater was built in the Herrengarten (Gentlemen’s Garden). Bad Berleburg now had a modern cinema with seating for 364. The new cinema was also used by the local cultural association for concerts and theatrical performances. In 1988, the cinema underwent extensive renovations, resulting in three auditoriums with 163, 83, and 63 seats. The residents of Berleburg are delighted with the new “Capitol Kino-Center” (Capitol Cinema Center). HCK GmbH & Co. KG acquired the building in January 2020. The new CAPITOL is scheduled to reopen in autumn 2022 as a cinema, variety theater, and theatre – combined with a restaurant and a hotel.

Art in the New Capitol
The art is as unique as the concept of the new CAPITOL, which combines a cinema, restaurant, and hotel under one roof. It’s worth taking a closer look during your visit. Original works by the Bosnian-Herzegovinian artist Redenko Milak and the Siegen-based artist Thomas Kellner can be seen in the restaurant and hotel.
