Reading with bestselling author Anne Stern at the New CAPITOL

A magical evening with Anne Stern. In a fully booked theater hall at the New CAPITOL in Bad Berleburg, bestselling author Anne Stern captivated the audience with a reading from her novel “Lindy Girls.” The event was organized by Monika Schröder, owner of the local bookstore.

“I am overwhelmed – not only by the great interest from the audience, but also by the New CAPITOL as an event venue,” the author emphasized before transporting the audience to 1920s Berlin. At the heart of her novel “Lindy Girls” is an eight-member female dance group rising to fame in the grand show palaces of the capital.

It was a time of social transformation. “People were shedding the narrow-minded constraints of the German Empire and embracing their freedom,” said Anne Stern. This was particularly evident in the evolving role of women during the Weimar Republic: the right to vote, freedom of career choice, and access to universities.

The author not only enthralled the audience with excerpts from her novel but also shared insights into her work as a writer and the research behind her books. After the reading, Anne Stern signed copies of her books and took time to engage in conversations with attendees.

Guests were provided with culinary delights by the restaurant’s service team, while cinema manager Kai Winterhoff ensured a smooth technical execution of the event.
